Compatibility: xlsx, xls, csv, and tsv files round-trip with formulas, styles, conditional formatting, data validation, tables, hyperlinks, notes, and images intact. Two desktop Excel features are not reproduced: VBA macros (removed on import) and real-time multi-user collaboration.

Because everything runs in the browser, the editor also works offline once the page has loaded. Everyday files open instantly; workbooks with tens of thousands of rows depend on your device memory, since no server does the heavy lifting.

Your work is auto-saved to the browser’s local storage every few seconds, so an accidental tab close does not lose your edits. Clearing browser data removes this local snapshot — export important files for permanent storage.
